These are some of the questions that I get asked frequently via e-mail so I thought I put some of them up on the site.

Why do I have to fill out a form?
I ask people to fill out a form as I want to be sure that my rats are going to a home where people know how to care for them. The information on the form tells me how much you know and understand about keeping rats and I can then make recommendations based on this information if required.

I also use forms as I want to be able to monitor my lines for health and temperament and I want to keep in contact with the owners. If I have a health or temperament issue then I need to stop using the lines that I am.

What cage do you recommend?
This is quite a tough one to answer because cages are a personal choice.
If you only wanted a group of 3 rats then the Savic Freddy 2 is a great little cage.
If you want to keep a group of 5 or 6 then the Ferplast Jenny (New verison) is very nice.
If you want to keep 2 groups of rats then the Explorer is great as it can be spilt in to 2 and you can have 2 groups of 6 or 7 rats.

What cage you get depends on your budget and the size and space you have available.
I do have a small selection of possible cages which can be seen here

Can I come round and see the babies?
If you are having babies from the litter that I have, I will allow people to visit the kittens but only once the babies are 3 weeks old. I do ask anyone who would like to see them to set a time and date as I do have other things going on which means I can't be home 24/7.

Can I come and see your rats and set up?
Again I do allow people to visit and see my cages, meet the rats etc. A lot of people aren't sure if rats are the pets for them and I am happy for them to come and meet the crew that I have to help them make a decision. I do ask that all people fill in an application form before a visit is arrange.

What varieties do you have?
Through my planned mating I may have British Blue, British Blue Agouti, Black and Agouti Blazed Berkshire & Variegated with the possiblilty of Berkshires and other colours, in smooth coats and top-eared.

I don't live anywhere near Banbury but really would like some kittens from you. Is this possible?
While I prefer all new owners come and collect the kittens from my home, I am willing to hand kittens over at Rat shows. I normally attend 9 or more shows a year all over the country so this is always a possiblity. I also have family in Wrexham, North Wales, so again anyone in North Wales, Chester/Wirral area who may be interested in kittens from me, it is possible to arrange for them to be collected from me via my family in this area.

Do you have any kittens available now?
Quite often all the kittens born here are reserved from my waiting list. I don't breed my rats to suit the demand. Each mating is worked out on what I hope to acheive from it and the doe isn't mated until she is ready.

Do you breed Dumbo?
I will have dumbos available but not until October 2011 at the earliest

Do you breed Rex?
No

Can I pick which kittens I want from the litter?
This all depends on the demand for the kittens. I get a lot of requests where people would like a certain variety and where possible I do try and offer them what they have requested. For more details on how I home my litters, please click here.

Can I have some of your rats for breeding/will you loan out a stud buck?
No unless I know someone personally I would give my rats out for breeding or loan out my bucks.

Do you deliver?

No and I won't allow my rats to travel via animal courier. However, I am happy to meet people at rat shows to exchange rats.
